Mr. A.N. Raman has been appointed President of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for the year 2011 at 72nd Assembly meeting of SAFA held on 9th January 2011 at Chennai, India. During the year 2010, Mr Raman was elected as Vice President of South Asian Federation of Accountants.

During his tenure as President of SAFA, Mr. Raman has outlined a time bound programme to achieve the goals expected from the Apex body. He has developed a performance Matrix aligning the activities of SAARC to reflect the regional aspirations from SAFA.

Mr. Raman is a Central Council Member of The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. Mr. Raman has worked extensively in the field of management accounting--writing and speaking avidly on topics relating to management accounting, enterprise governance, and cost management. He currently works as a consultant on management accounting topics with a focus on activity-based costing and target costing in India. He is a founding member of the Total Cost Management (TCM) Division of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Furthermore, Mr. Raman is the current Chair of the Professional Accountants in Business Committee at the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), where he plays a pivotal role in promoting the work of the IFAC PAIB Committee in the Asian region. In addition, he is also a member of PAIB Committee of IFAC.
Mr. Raman is a member of the ICWAI, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Muhammad Rafi is Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (FCMA), Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (FPA), the Institute of Corporate Secretaries of Pakistan (FICS) and a Diplomaed Associate of the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan (DAIBP).

Mr. Rafi is on the Council of Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) for the last 14 years and has been its President in 2005, Vice President in 2003 & 2004 and Honorary Secretary in 2002. He has served as Country Representative of Pakistan at the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Public Sector Committee (now IPSASB) during 2000-2002.

Currently he is a member Consultative Group of IPSASB. He has also been the Chairman of SAFA Committee on Governmental and Public Sector Accounting. Mr. Rafi has widely travelled and presented many papers at national and international conferences & seminars.  


Mr. Rafi has been elected as Vice President of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in January 2011. Presently serving as General Manager in Pakistan’s largest petroleum company - Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, Mr. Rafi has 34 years of experience at senior management levels in Finance, Accounts and Banking.

Mr. Hafiz is a Senior Partner of Rahman Rahman Huq (RRH), a leading firm of Chartered Accountants in Bangladesh. RRH is a Member Firm of KPMG International , one of the "Big 4" Accounting Firms in the World.

Mr. Hafiz is a senior member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh(ICAB). He is also a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW). Mr. Hafiz is a Council Member and a Past President of ICAB.

Mr. Hafiz was a member of the National Gas Utilization Committee. He was a Director of Sonali Bank Limited for over six years and currently a Director of Agrani Bank Limited.

A post graduate in Economics having more than thirty years of experience with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He served the Institute in diverse capacities in Technical Directorate, Examination, Board of Studies, Council Affairs, Disciplinary and HRD, besides handling other assignments specifically assigned to him from time to time. The only strength to his credit is exposure to critical areas of the ICAI, experience gained therefrom and the expertise thus possessed.

He pioneered in rendering assistance to Accounting Standards Board, Auditing Practices Committee and Centralized evaluation system of answer papers during their formative stages. He is the first Appellate Authority and also the first Director (Discipline), designated by the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Besides, he served as Officer-in-Charge for five consecutive Elections to the Council and the Regional Councils including conduct and completion of election under the Election Rules as framed by the Central Government. In addition, he rendered various remarkable services /handled assignments including acting as the Secretary to the Study Team on Issues Relating to Foreign Bodies/Firms which was, inter alia, entrusted with the task of providing inputs, on behalf of the ICAI, to the Government on WTO related matters.

Currently he is also the Secretary to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Mr. Sudhir Sharma, Joint Director (Technical) of The Institute of Cost of Works Accountants of India, New Delhi has been appointed as Executive Secretary of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for the year 2011 at 72nd Assembly Meeting of SAFA held on 9th January 2011 at Chennai, India. Mr. Sharma has more than twenty years of work experience in the areas of Finance and Accounts, Project Finance, MIS, Administration, Legal, Costing, Taxation and Technical Inputs with ICWAI presently and a Government of India Undertaking earlier.

Mr. Sharma is the Secretary to WTO and International Affairs Committee (2010-11) of ICWAI. Earlier, he was Secretary to Committees on Professional Development (2008-09); Taxation, Corporate & Allied Laws (2008-09) and Cost Audit and Assurance Standards Board (2009-10) of ICWAI. Mr. Sharma has represented the ICWAI in various Committees of Central and State Governments of India.


Mr. Sharma is a Graduate in Science, followed by Professional qualifications in Law, Management, Computer Applications, Company Secretary and Cost and Works Accountancy.
