CA. Ananda Raj Sharma Wagle is the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN), the statutory regulator of the accounting and auditing profession in Nepal. He is a Fellow Member of ICAN and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), with over 16 years of professional experience in audit and assurance, taxation, financial and management advisory, Public Financial Management (PFM), capital markets, corporate governance and institutional development.

Prior to becoming President, he served as Vice President and Council Member of ICAN and has been actively involved in strengthening professional education, quality assurance, regulation, digital transformation and the international recognition of the Nepalese accountancy profession. He also serves as a Board Member of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) as the representative of ICAN.

CA. Wagle has served as President of the Association of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ACAN) for two consecutive terms (201719 and 201921), following his service as Vice President and Treasurer. He has also held leadership roles in professional and community organizations, including as Founder President of the Rotary Club of Greenland Kathmandu and ACAN Toastmasters Club, Board Member of Audit Bureau of Circulation under Press council ACT for two Years in Year 2013-15, currently serving as a Strategic Committee chair of Nepal Chamber of Tax Consultants of Nepal.

His professional interests and contributions extend to Public Financial Management, ESG and Sustainability Reporting, Climate Finance and Carbon Accounting. He has contributed to the development and promotion of NFRS S1 and NFRS S2 and to initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of professional accountants in sustainability reporting, climate-related financial information and assurance.

At the regional and international level, he has represented ICAN in SAFA activities, including participation in SAFA Board and Committee engagements. He has contributed to the SAFA Committee on Education, Training and Continuing Professional Development (ETCPD) and the ITAG Committee, with particular interest in professional education, technology, transparency, accountability and governance. He has also participated in professional engagements involving IFAC and other international accounting organizations.

CA. Wagle holds a Master's degree in Economics from Tribhuvan University, is an IFRS-certified professional through ACCA, UK, and holds professional certification in Public Financial Management (PFM) from ICAN.

His key areas of expertise include Accounting & Auditing, Public Financial Management, ESG & Sustainability Reporting, Carbon Accounting, Climate Finance, Taxation, Corporate Governance, Capital Markets, Digital Transformation and Accounting Outsourcing/BPO/KPO.

As President of ICAN, his vision is to strengthen the quality, relevance and global recognition of the Nepalese accountancy profession and position Chartered Accountants as strategic partners in good governance, economic policy, sustainable development, digital transformation and national economic growth.
